It’s remarkable how different we are from each other. One person can fall over when he sees blood, and another can work as a surgeon in a hospital. One can hide her face in a monster movie, and another can laugh loudly when the monster eats a whole family, one person at a time. The things that turn one person’s stomach don’t always turn the stomach of the person sitting next to him. Why do you think that’s true?

There are so many things or situations that could turn one’s stomach. Sometimes it’s an unusual smell. Sometimes it’s the sight of something disgusting. It could be the yucky taste of a particular food. Occasionally, it’s just the memory of something that can turn one’s stomach. The mind and body work in strange and interesting ways.

Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt explains that it turns his stomach when people treat him differently because he’s an actor. He doesn’t believe that he’s more special than anyone else, and he just wants people to treat him like a normal guy.

I had a friend who is a pianist playing beautiful music but in his spare time, he made digital music—which sounds like sequences of nonsense hellish noise. His digital music turns my stomach because of its unpleasantness. It is totally different from his piano music. He treats his untasteful sounds as music sickens me.

The more usual idiom is ‘It turns my stomach’.It means ‘It makes me feel sick’.

it should be noted that the exression is normally figurative.

It generally mean’s to make someone feel sick to the stomach, usually from shock or from something making them very nervous.

E.g.

When a mother see’s her son climbing a large tree, she get’s worried that he will get hurt. Once he get’s down safely, the mother will usually scold at him, saying. ”Don’t do that again!” When talking to her friend on the phone or her husband about what happened, she will most likely say, ”My stomach turned when I saw him climbing that large tree! He could have cracked his head right open!”
