Did you watch cartoons when you were little? Have you ever seen Japanese cartoons and comics called anime? Many children and adults all over the world are now reading and watching these Japanese cartoons.

Anime cartoons usually have characters and creatures with very large eyes and a colorful design. In Japan, this style of comic books and cartoons is very popular. There is usually a story told in anime cartoons that can last for many years. Children all over the world love the anime creatures so much that they buy toys and clothing with the cartoon. One very popular anime cartoon is “Sailor Moon.” Companies like Disney distribute anime to the United States, and many big name actors are used as the voices of characters.

Brian:  Dominique, do you ever watch anime?

Dominique:  No, the only type of anime I’ve ever seen… I don’t even know if it’s anime… is “Sailor Moon.”

Brian:  Yes, that’s an anime. That Counts! Oh, that’s great! It seems like it’s getting more popular. I know Miyazaki is becoming more common in America and in the States. In fact, Disney now distributes a lot of his movies and has big name actors. I was watching one and Christian Bale’s voice like popped out at me.

Dominique:  Really?

Brian:  Yeah!

Dominique:  Wow. I’ll have to check that out.

Brian:  Yeah, and you should also check out manga. It’s the comic-book version of anime. It’s basically the Japanese comics. And those are really neat because Japanese comics are image based as opposed to American comics are very language based.

Dominique:  That’s awesome, I’ll have to check that out.

Brian:  Yeah, and you know, I always like the designs. There are some really creative monsters and creatures, like “Pokémon” has so many different creatures, and they all have their own design and which I find very unique and entertaining.

Dominique:  Gotta Catch ‘Em All!”

Brian is asking Dominique if she has ever seen anime. He watches and reads anime and thinks it is getting more popular. He tells Dominique that directors like Miyazaki are working with big companies like Disney to share their cartoons with the United States. He tells Dominique to also check out manga. Manga is a type of comic book that is image based. In America, comics are usually language based. He loves the creatures in “Pokémon” and finds them entertaining.

Dominique doesn’t know a lot about anime. She has seen “Sailor Moon” but hasn’t heard of any other anime cartoons. After listening to Brian, she thinks anime is interesting and will check out some of his suggestions.

Do you like anime? What anime cartoon is your favorite?

Now that’s absolutely in my league. I love anime. Sometimes I binge watch it all day long, although I know it’s a waste of time.

Anime is really great. There are various genres to pick your favourite. The characters are neatly drawn and the story is interesting and long-lasting. Detective Conan from the nineties and is still being casted. Also Naruto and One Piece are still being produced, one episode per week. Hunter X Hunter, Bleach, Death Note, and you name it. These are big names in Japanese Anime production and my favourites too.

I used to watch Tom & Jerry and a list of other cartoons when I was little, but my passion towards anime increased with time.

I haven’t seen much of Japanese anime, but watched the Little Prince animation recently. It was fantastic. I was wondering how they can make not quite a child’s story alluring for kids. Well that was a challenge espcially for the younger kids who started making noise right away when the touchy classic popped in  and when the action took place, every one got alive with attention on the screen. For me the whole animation was amazingly beautiful. But the kids choice whent with  zootopia:)

Yes, I used to work in downtown and during the break hours, as my boss rarely was in the office i happened almost every day heading out to a  cinema that only proyected cartoons. I remember Tom and Jerry and the Road Runner. I think that by chance i have seen anime cartoons, but to tell the truth, i didn´t pay attention to the characters. Sorry, but i can´t give a valid opinion.
