Music created by singer-songwriters is without a doubt my favorite. From Bob Dylan to Joni Mitchell to Willie Nelson to Tracy Chapman to Elliot Smith to Sarah McLachlan to… I could go on forever with a list of singer-songwriters who have touched my life over the years and affected who I am today.
There are too many talented singer-songwriters to talk about in one lesson, so I’m going to tell you about two that I have been listening to a lot lately.
Dialog
1. Study - Read the dialog again to see how the vocab words are used.
The CD that I can’t get out of my stereo right now is called Music for the Morning After and it was recorded by Pete Yorn. Pete is a singer-songwriter from New Jersey.
It’s not the gorgeous melodies or even the structure of Yorn songs like “Strange Condition” and “Just Another” that bring to mind Springsteen; it’s the sense of craft and quality that holds them together
He learned to play the drums when he was a small child and then guitar when he was 13 years old.
