Hi Friends!
Family events can be a lot of fun. They can also be a good reason to travel and get some time away from work. Beth’s family lives in New York and she lives in Oregon, so she doesn’t go home very often. However, her grandparents recently had a party to celebrate a very special day, so she took the long flight home to celebrate with them.
Listen in with her conversation with Miguel to hear all about her trip.

Miguel:  So Beth, how was your trip?

Beth:  It was awesome. I was in New York for about a week.

Miguel:  What did you do?

Beth:  I mostly hung out with family and relaxed and saw some movies and read a book – stuff like that.

Miguel:  So were you in New York City or New York state?

Beth:  I was actually in New York state. It was, uh, I went for a party for my grandparents, so that was the main reason to go upstate. And I hung out in the mountains and went hiking and did this party for my grandparents.

Miguel:  What was the party for?

Beth:  It was their 60th anniversary.

Miguel:  60th wedding anniversary?

Beth:  Yeah, isn’t that amazing?

Miguel:  That’s totally amazing. I can hardly believe it. So, how old are they? Are they in their 80’s or something?

Beth:  Yeah, they’re in their late 80’s, but they’re both, uh, incredible. They’re really active and very young and vibrant.

Miguel:  That’s really cool. That sounds like a lot of fun.

Discussion

Staying in touch with family can sometimes be difficult, but it’s really important. I think it’s wonderful that Beth went home to share her grandparent’s anniversary with her whole family.
Being married for 60 years is an incredible accomplishment! I’m very impressed. I hope I stay with my husband for that long.
Have a great week!
