names[/def] are big business on the Web. They cost almost nothing to register, but having the right URL can be so important to a business that they’ll buy it for thousands of dollars if someone else already registered it.
You have to be careful. If you think of a good idea, register the domain name right away so that no one will beat you to it. But who would do such a nasty thing? Maybe someone you didn’t hire for a job. See who snatched the url Devan wanted for her new business right out from under her nose.

Dale: Americandreamboat.com! What a great name!
Devan: Isn’t it though?
Dale: Unbelievable. Excellent name.
Devan: Hey, speaking of which, did we ever get that name registered? Hey, Jason! Will you go register the name if we haven’t done it already?

Dale is telling Devan how great he thinks the name of her website is when she realizes she forgot to register the domain name. She asks Jason to do it and he discovers that Marni has already registered it!
Jason calls Marni and she tells him that since Devan wouldn’t give her a job, and the idea for the website was her idea anyway, she registered the domain name and is starting her own company. When Jason tells Devan what Marni says, she is surprised and angry.
Do you think Marni was justified to take the domain name right out from under Devan’s nose? Which company do you think is more likely to succeed?
