Steph: Hey Derek, do you ever think about volunteering?
Derek: I do, sometimes.
Steph: Yeah. Me, too. I mean it seems like it would be a nice thing to do to kinda give your time without getting money for it.
Derek: Yeah. Ya know, it’s a very humanistic thing to do.
Steph: Totally. If you were gonna volunteer, where would you volunteer? I’m trying to think of some ideas.
Derek: I dunno. It would probably be local, so maybe Habitat for Humanity.
Steph: Right. That’s a good idea or at a homeless shelter or something like that.
Derek: Yeah.
Steph: That’s a really good idea. Yeah, I was thinking about volunteering with children too. That would be a very worthwhile and positive thing to do.
Derek: Oh. Kinda like the Big Brother and Big Sister Program.
Steph: Yeah. That would be cool. Ya know, help mentor, um, a young child and, ya know, bring them up, ya know, almost like an older sibling.
Derek: That would be cool.
Steph: Yeah. I’m totally gonna look into it.
Derek: Sounds like a plan.

Are there opportunities to volunteer where you live? There are plenty here in America.
Steph and Derek were talking about two very popular ones, Habitat for Humanity and the Big Bother and Big Sister Program. Habitat for Humanity helps people by building and renovating houses. The Big Bother and Big Sister Program matches adults with youngsters to become their mentors.
If you were going to volunteer, where would you give your time?
